E27. Turning Overwhelm into Focus on What Produces
Oct 01, 2021
It is easy to slip into a feeling of overwhelm when you are an entrepreneur.
Especially when your brain starts going through all the many, many things that you think you need to get done in order to have a productive week.
But what if there was an easy way to take on only a few things that actually matter? That's what I talked about in my latest podcast episode.

When your mind spins too far down this rabbit hole and you realize very quickly that there's just too much to do and you're probably never going to get it all done, here's what you need to remind yourself.
As an entrepreneur, your job is not to be incredibly busy. Your job is to be focused on the things that really matter and trust that everything is working out in the big picture.
Here's a preview of the episode:
[1:36] Focus on things that matter and trust that everything is working out for you.
[2:05] The emotion of being overwhelmed means that you are trying to be too specific about too many things. Go general and chill.
[3:09] When you are feeling overwhelmed, step back and remind yourself that everything is always working out.
[8:01] The feeling of being lit up really lets you follow your path of least resistance and greatest inspiration.
You might say, well, it's easier said than done. And I might have agreed with you at one point in some part of my own journey, but then I learned something.
I've learned that feeling overwhelmed comes when I'm trying to be too specific about too many things. And when you think about it, it's just impractical to expect yourself to be able to have a handle the many details of your business.
So, what do you do?
First, take a step back in those moments when you feel overwhelmed, take a deep breath, and remind yourself consciously that everything is always working out.
Next, ask yourself these questions.
- What's lighting me up in my business right now?
- What am I giving the universe to tend to just for now?
- What would I like to entertain at some point in the future?
Hear more about how these three questions can help you focus on the few things that matter, and to effortlessly see the rest managed by the wiser mind of the Universe.
I truly believe that when something lights you up, it's lighting you up for a reason. And when you've got a lot on your plate, it's okay to give a lot of that over to the Universe.
Let yourself surrender.
