E11: Spoil Yourself to Help Others (feat. Danette Penrod)
Oct 14, 2022It is easy to get caught up in the business of life.
We've got a family to take care of, a business to run, a community to serve, and other things that need our attention. And oftentimes, we put others first before our own needs.
If you are struggling to find time for yourself, my latest podcast episode is for you. Our special guest, Danette Penrod, is a Holistic Health & Lifestyle advocate and a self-care expert who shares awesome tips on how we can take care of ourselves more so we can do more
In This Episode You Will Learn About:
- Why it's easy to fall "victim" to neglecting your personal needs
- Why time and money aren't really holding your self-care back
- Simple (free!) ways to start treating yourself the way you deserve
You don't have to wait until you are stressed or burned out before you take action and start doing self-care.
Here's a preview of the episode:
[6:16] We all know you won't be of much benefit to others if your cup is empty.
[9:10] Self-care is best if you take the tiny habits that you can do during the day and make them your own because I believe self-care is super personal.
[9:35] Self-care is a personal journey. You have to figure out what works for you and what makes you tick.
[9:45] Time and Money are the two common misconceptions people have about implementing self-care into their routine.
[10:53] Owning your day and having control over your day is probably the best thing you can do for yourself.
[11:11] Be intentional with your time (and what you do with your time). Set your intention for the day before you get on somebody else's schedule.
[14:20] It's much more fun to show up with those spaces when you'll gonna full tank yourself.
[19:57] Take a couple of minutes to reset and permit yourself that it's okay if you fall out of your routine as long as you know what you need to get back on track.
[20:33] Selfcare should feel good. Find the things that you like and light yourself up.
No matter how busy you are with family and work, there should always be a time every single day to nurture yourself spiritually, emotionally, mentally, and physically.
Tip: Find what lights you up and then incorporate it as a ritual into your life.
Don't think that nourishing yourself and doing what you love and what lights you up is selfish. In fact, it is the opposite.
It is one of the incredible ways to make sure that you are able to show up with the best version of yourself and serve the people around you.
So, go ahead and find the "ME" time” that you totally deserve. And make it a habit.
